Devlog > December - July
Hey! It’s been a while. The last few months were pretty busy, so I unfortunately did much less than I wanted to, and I’m pretty unsatisfied with this devlog too, but oh well. I can’t post nothing at all too…
So here’s some stuff I did in the last few months! Not much, but at least something.
Texteffects can now be turned off. This applies to shaking text mainly.
More profilepictures for the ChatUI I am working on! (Will look much different than this by the way)The content warning in the beginning of the game now lets you change the language, if the game either didn’t detect it, or detected a wrong language. In addition, I also simplified the code so I can add languages more easily.
Whenever the location in-game changes, there will now be a popup in the corner of the screen, telling the player where they are.
New game Logos! Also optimised the macOS one to support dark mode and tinted variants.
The game will now let you know if there’s an update available. This is mainly for the playtesters, but I will keep it in when the game fully releases.
When changing the UI zoom, scroll views will now adapt. Makes it easier for me to add new stuff!
I also added a new developer-settings menu. This one lets me, and everyone else, change a specific PlayerPrefs Key. For example, you can make yourself start in chapter 3 instead of 2. This makes testing a lot easier.
A new switcher. This lets the player switch between interactable objects in bigger scenes.
The game now lets the player pause the game when an animation is playing. Before, pausing was disabled to not break anything, but I found a pretty easy fix. Also added some nice blur.
A dialogue and monologue system! This is very important. I added an option to skip, added a bigger hitbox (better for mobile players) and I also added the option to have multiple texts.
Another very important thing I started: The decision prototype! It's very early, but it'll look pretty much like this when it's done. Some other stuff I fixed:
- Texts no longer disappear randomly
- Font no longer misses some japanese symbols (hopefully)
- Padding on all grids to prevent text-cutoff
- Content warning scene now restarts the game when language was changed
- More UIs block the mouse raycast. This is important so you don’t interact with objects while clicking around in a menu
And some different stuff:
- Updated to Unity 6
- Added labels to the credits and about page of the game
- Added an option to delete ALL data. savedata and settings
- You can now cap or uncap your FPS
- Converted more PNGs to WEBPs. Still not all, but definitely made progress. This is important for a smaller game size
And that was it. Thank you for reading! The next devlog will probably be published beginning of 2026 if everything runs smoothly…
